Three years ago I got an i7 Thinkpad and a $100 Wavlink USB-C Dock. Life was good. In the morning I'd take my laptop from the dining table to the office and plug into the dock and everything worked fine.
Sadly, 3 years later I upgrade to an i9 P16 Thinkbook and the Wavlink can't hack it any more. I got an error on my Thinkbook saying it has switched to "Low Power Mode", which worked for a while but lately quit charging.
OK, I guess the 65W Wavlink has had it, so now I'm looking at top of the line Lenovo docks. I'm even willing to pay the $300 plus price for the soon to be released 100W "Universal Thunderbolt 4 Dock". However in checking the compatibility list I see this:
"Must attach Notebook AC power adapter to system directly to get enough power charging. P1W45M1"
PLEASE TELL ME THE DOCUMENTATION IS WRONG. It's for an AMD version of the P16 but the Intel i9 is obviously a power hog. It came with a giant 230W power brick. But I still think the USB-C Docks should be able to keep it from using the battery. It is sad to think I need to plug in the USB-C and the power brick to equal what worked 3 years ago.
Thanks, Glen
