For those of you who have been shipping items recently, what do you think of the new “ RFID confirmed pickup “ that is now being activated at some shippers and in certain markets [eventually everywhere] …”?

Saw an interesting post on the creator community about whether people were using AIOs, Mini PCs, or laptops for compact setups. It got me thinking about those of us who have a work setup, but also have to travel to meet clients or for conferences or other business related reasons. Some of us will have a single powerful laptop as core of the setup that we can then take with us when we travel. Some have a desktop for the main setup and a laptop for travel (sometimes a workstation, sometimes an ultralight). Yet others have a laptop they use for their main setup, which they take with them only when necessary, using a tablet and phone for their normal travel meetings. My preference is the desktop/laptop split, so I have a powerful machine locally when it counts, but what about you all? Curious to see your needs and preferences.

Recently saw a video on the Bolt Graphics Zeus GPU that is targetting professional workloads. It looks like a interesting development GPU. Sodimm expandability (hasn’t been done in a long time), Ethernet connectivity and dual PCIe connectors that aren’t proprietary so chaining them together. Mass production next year also. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fZM9wOvbh0

Hi, ich frage mich, welche KI-Modelle bzw. Anbieter ihr in euren Unternehmen nutzt, um damit produktiver zu sein und was genau die Stärke dieses Modells aus eurer Sicht ist?

I realize this may be an unpopular opinion, but I liked Windows 7 back in the day before we switched to Ubuntu when I worked at Amazon. I haven't ever really been a big fan of Linux personally.

Does anyone think the RAM crisis is going to get worse by years end? I saw Apple finally increased their prices, but I'm wondering if they will be increased even more before the end of the year. It is somewhat encouraging that Apple is at least trying to get a third-party producer to bring costs down. Thoughts?

As I get older, I begin to think more seriously about efficiency hacks, in particular how to self-structure my day so I get the most out of myself. I have heard different things about whether to do rote work early or late, similarly for work that requires research or problem solving. I have even seen hacks that concern the order in which one reviews material over the course of a week for purposes of optimizing memory. Who here has had success with anything like this? It's time I stopped taking the brute force approach for granted.

Considering options for my new laptop, would you go for the new Thinkbook 14 or Thinkpad X1 carbon?

What happened to the Trackpoint keyboards? I see that replacement key caps are available, but I want to purchase a few more of the keyboards themselves. I find it provides far more convenient mouse control.

A few months ago, the MacBook Neo hit the market with quite a splash, given that it offered an attractive, premium-feeling design for quite a low price, compared to its often cheaper-looking entry-level PC competitors. While prices have risen on it now, presumably due to Apple running out of binned A18 Pro chips, it absolutely had most other companies scrambling to make some kind of response, especially since the <$700 laptop segment is about 40% of the notebook market. It does have tradeoffs that make it non-ideal for being a daily driver for businesses, but it is certainly a capable enough model for travel, which might threaten the niches of companies making ultralights (it certainly isn't as powerful as say, the Thinkpad X1 Carbon, but is that power necessarily needed? It depends on the application one is using it for - your standard business traveler might not need something so mighty, if they're mostly keeping in touch with the office). So I suppose my question is: what other changes / consequences do we anticipate coming up in the next year or so either in the entry-level market segment or the upper-end as a result of the Neo shock? Do you foresee further disruptions across product offerings in the Industry?
