In winter months you can go up to two months without water and in the summer, you only need to water every two weeks. Since not all snake plants are the same, make sure to read the label and avoid cultivar snake plants that can grow several feet high (you might not want to be that guy with the cubical plant 10 feet tall...). 2. Aloe
Is your desk near a window? If so, then Aloe might be the perfect office plant for you. These succulents thrive off of bright light and only need to be watered every couple of weeks. Not only is this a beautiful plant to warm up your office space, but it has wonderful benefits too. Remove the outer green exterior for the aloe vera gel to help ease those sneaky paper cuts that mysteriously appear. Aloe plants can range from $1-$30.
3. Cacti
A beginner or expert plant owner cannot go wrong adding a cactus to their desk set up. These prickly plants thrive off dry climates and only need to be watered once a week. There are over 1750 species of the plant that come in a variety of shapes and colors. Make sure to keep these guys in a corner out of reach or you might feel a little pinch. Although its name is very deceiving, lucky bamboo isn’t bamboo but a type of dracaena. They are said to bring good luck and fortune to their owner’s especially if received as a gift. Many say this came from the number of stalks your bamboo plant has. For example, three stalks are supposed to bring happiness and good health while 8 stalks represent prosperity. Lucky bamboo can cost $10-$50 but the luck it can bring is priceless.
5. Peace Lilly
Offering beautiful and lush green leaves with white delicate flowers, a peace lily would be a wonderful addition to your workspace. They are very forgiving if you miss watering here and there. And while they need some light, they don’t require direct sunlight. Although they are not part of the Lily family, they offer the same peace and tranquility that lilies represent with their low-maintenance care. One benefit of this stunning plant is its ability to clean the air and remove unwanted toxins from its environment. Smaller peace lilies start at $25 while larger ones can get up to $150.
6. Succulent
You can’t really go wrong choosing a succulent as your office plant. They store water in their dense leaves resulting in only needing water every week or so. One thing succulents need is lots of light! Make sure to rotate your plant regularly so all sides can get some love from the sun. Another tip is to make sure you wipe down your succulent and remove any unwanted dust or build-up because that can prevent growth. Succulents come in all shapes and sizes and range from $4-$120+.
7. English Ivy
Want to spice up your flat office space with some cascading green leaves? If so, English Ivy would work great for you. Vine plants need a lot of attention and watering at first but once established they can live in dryer conditions. Two key things you need to make sure English Ivy flourishes is a cool environment and lots of sunlight. This plant is also known for helping purify the air and is priced anywhere from $4-$50.
8. ZZ Plant
This succulent plant makes the perfect office plant because it does not need much light or water to thrive. ZZ plant’s naturally shiny leaves cause many to mistake it as an artificial plant. Since this plant is impossible to kill, it is not only great for new plant parents but is known as the heirloom plant to pass down to younger generations. ZZ plants can go from $10 all the way up to hundreds of dollars depending on the size.
9. Pothos/ Devils Ivy
The pothos plant, also known as devil’s ivy, is a type of evergreen ivy plan that make great office plants because of their ability to survive in little light.
