Do you rely on public WiFi and cellular data while traveling?
Is your connection reliable? Is it safe?
Obviously, we all need to stay connected—even when we're away from our office or our home. But, how good are those connections?
I've experienced bandwidth and latency issues. I've experienced disconnects and connection setup issues. And I have exposed my devices to security risks, some of which I remain unaware. But, I plan to put a stop to it soon.
How?
I will connect to a device which acts as a proxy for all of my devices—and for all available connections. I will connect to a cellular gateway.
Don't let the classification fool you. A cellular gateway is much more than a cellular device. It's not just a cellular modem.
Dave Plummer, from the YouTube channel Dave's Garage, can explain it better than I can. I have no experience with cellular gateways, yet. Whereas Dave and his cellular gateway appear to be very well traveled.
Dave recommends a cellular gateway from GL•iNet. Specifically, he recommends the Spitz AX (GL-X3000) model.
After visiting GL•iNet's website (and store), however, I plan to go with the Puli AX (GL-XE3000) model. It appears to have all of the same features as Dave's recommendation, but adds a 6400mAh (47.4Wh) 7.4V battery. Well worth it—for only +7% additional cost.
