Life with Machines episode 9 was an another interesting episode and I liked the guest on, Dr. Rumman Chowdhury of Human Intelligence - Tech NPO.
What were some of your takeaways?
Here are some notes and questions:
I liked the observation of the active vs. passive perspective on how we can use, engage with and influence AI
The concept of moral outsourcing and example given from WWII. It helps the realization to deepen on the possibilities to take more ownership now and say wait a minute - what are we creating and can we make thoughtful choices as we create it?
I liked the additional draw of the AI era to the industrial era.
It was very thought provoking to hear what Dr. Chowdhury would say to young folks and students who are scared of the future and are making decisions around that - likelihood of job availability, etc.
Right to Repair. Repairability - Tractor Hackers story. Can we install a method to raise our own voices, restore our ownership, our agency?
Bug Bounty: (for those unfamiliar) "A bug bounty program is a deal offered by many websites, organizations, and software developers by which individuals can receive recognition and compensation for reporting bugs, especially those pertaining to security exploits and vulnerabilities."
Have you ever participated in a Bug Bounty program? If so, what was your experience like?
What do you think about this statement: Maybe we don't need to use AI in everything.
