In this video, Thomas checks back in with the ThinkPad T14s AMD Gen-1Â for a closer look at some of the more talked about features from Part 1 of his ThinkPad T14s unboxing, including the infrared camera (IR cam) and the Mirametrix Glace software.Â
So, the computer protects itself from being spied on, and in the process, protects all of your sensitive work no matter where you are. Sound too good to be true? Thomas shows you how it all works in this video.

Working together, the IR cam and glance software make for some spy-movie-level technology to protect your screen:
- First: The IR cam detects if you look away from the screen or step away from the system entirely. When that happens, it automatically takes the screen into a privacy mode that makes it fuzzy and unreadable.
- Second: If the laptop senses that someone is standing over your shoulder trying to sneak a peek at what’s on your screen, it will display an alert to warn you, and again will make the screen go blurry. (Take that, shoulder surfers!)
- Bonus: You have the ability to push a button and make your screen appear dark to anyone looking at it from an angle (similar to screen privacy stickers that can be placed onto screens - but this one is built-in and can be controlled with a single click!).
Finally, to show off the power of this machine, we run the T14s Ryzen 7 Pro through the Novabench test.
Spoiler alert, its fast! Seriously, you will not believe the Novebench score this machine receives.
