S3E7: Lighthouse Sounds

Recording studio stakes survival on moving the business

When Jay (Hart) Stanley was looking for a way to invest money left to him by his late father, he turned to his friend Alex St. Cin, a sound engineer, who suggested they start a recording studio in their hometown of Alton. And Lighthouse Sounds was born.

Having grown out of their small studio space, Hart purchased an old fireplace shop on Broadway in town and has been putting in the renovation work โ€“ in between his full-time job โ€“ to refurbish the space and make it studio-ready. As the youngest business owners ever featured on the series, these friends have found it not only challenging being co-owners of a business, but also making the studio a destination for out of town acts.

Amanda Brinkman, chief brand and communications officer for Deluxe, alongside President and GM of the historic Sound Emporium Studios in Nashville, Tennessee, Juanita Copeland, and her sound engineer, Mike Stankiewicz, step in to offer some tough love to the young entrepreneurs. Along with some advice on their new space from Ty Pennington, the Deluxe team will show Lighthouse Sounds just what an optimized website can do for their business, along with some updated branding pieces, including a new logo, apparel and merchandise.

Watch to see if Hart and Alex can push past their friendship challenges to create the next big St. Louis area recording studio.
