  • There are many concerns about the use and impact of ChatGPT and other similar tools. A large number of articles and commentaries have been written by computer scientists, philosophers, linguists, artists. Just a few names: Gary Marcus, Cory Doctorow, Geoffrey Hinton, Noam Chomsky. See the recent open letter from the Future of Life Institute calling on all AI labs to pause giant AI experiments. Just a couple of important issues with these tools: they are being or will start being used for important decisions on human life and society (medical care, criminal justice, financial loans) but contain many biases from their training datasets; and they reduce to zero the cost of producing and spreading misinformation (with very negative consequences).
