SEO - questions and experience

When I first started working on building my website for my new business 15 years ago, I saw a book on a fellow employees desk at my current job.  Search Engine Optimization for Dummies.  I asked him if I could borrow it and he said he was done with it and I could have it.  I followed exactly what it said and our website got to page 1 of the search engines.  The most important thing was to build content for your website such as articles and other informational pages.  This way your website seems important to search engines and is important for customers to return to.  Just start our writing an article each week or two on the topics related to your business.  And eventually you'll have hundreds of pages of content.

SEO, or website optimization, is a process of making sure your website appears as close to the top of search engine results pages as possible. This is done through a variety of techniques, including optimizing your website's content and code, building links to your site, and developing a social media presence. SEO can be a complex and time-consuming process, but it's often essential for driving traffic to your website. SEOmoz, for example, offers a great SEO Beginner's Guide that covers the basics of SEO and how to get started. Once you have a better understanding of SEO, you can start experimenting with different techniques to see what works best for your website.
