ThinkPad Universal Thunderbolt 4 Dock Any thoughts?

Does anyone have any thoughts on the ThinkPad Universal Thunderbolt 4 Dock? Would this be a good investment provided that a person had the right computer?

  • Yes I would highly recommend a Dock, I would suggest making sure the dock can power the laptop, that way you only have one cable connected to your laptop, here is a good source to help figure out what accessories will work with your device - SmartFind (lenovo.com)

  • Thank you so much   I will read through it.

  • If you normally work at a location but you take your laptop with you often a dock is great. It simplifies everything to a single cable to plug and unplug. The Thunderbolt docks are great if you need the 40GBps speed that Thunderbolt provides. Otherwise, look at the USB-C docks, they will save you money and do the same thing. The USB-C docks only go up to 10GBps which is still fast.

I recommend getting the Thunderbolt 4 dock if you are using any of the following:

    • 3 or more 1080p displays
    • 2 or more 4K displays
    • an 8K display
    • 10Gbps ethernet with a display
    • high-speed Direct Attached RAID arrays

I use a Thunderbolt dock at work and at home. It's great that I don't have to plug and unplug 7 items each time I come in or leave work.
