FYI: Not Using Lenovo Power Supply can Screw Up your Touchpad and Keyboard.

I had been using a small non-Lenovo 65W USB C power supply for my Lenovo Slim 7; And started seeing half the touchpad and some keys become unresponsive,,, Turns out that not using Lenovo's Power supply can sometimes build up Static, or some other glitch in those input devices.

So, I dd a "Static Drain"

Instructions from Lenovo:

Perform a Hard Power Drain (Static Discharge)

Over time, residual static electricity can build up on the motherboard and cause the keyboard/touchpad data lines to lock up unless a modifier key changes the voltage state.

Shut down your laptop completely.
Unplug the charger and disconnect any external mice, USB drives, or peripherals.
Press and hold the Power Button for a full 60 seconds. (Do not let go early; this drains all remaining electricity from the components).
Plug your charger back in and turn on the laptop normally

Anyway, this eliminated the problem, and was a new one for me!

Here's the thing - Took on a client that was a growing Real estate development/management/hotel management team. Their hospitality side had a default mode of "this person needs a laptop" and the hotel GM would go to Best Buy and grab the cheapest crap they could see and use that. So the I.T. landscape was fragmented and poorly operated since they did not HAVE I.T.
I step in and get them convinced to standardize the tech. Slowly over a couple years I would give the new people a laptop, but management was still looking at the end price tag, not the ROI of a better built device. So the YOGA line of 16" 2-in-1 was the "standard"
I haven't had trouble with them other than a charging bug in one using and a sales person dropping his more than once (can we say 'unable to learn from mistakes' ?) and have over 30 in the field. Are any of you seeing more issues on these less expensive units?

If you like organizing notes into a flowchart or collecting ideas to help write documentation, articles, or books, this might be of interest to you. After migrating away from PalmOS to Android years ago, I searched for a good free cross-platform notetaking app that ran on desktop Windows / Linux and also worked on Android for on-device note management that provided both synchronization and encryption. I eventually settled on Joplin.

The latest version of desktop Joplin received two new updates, a whiteboard feature and... AI, but the AI is disabled by default (Opt-Out)... phew! I just updated my installation of Joplin and tried out the whiteboard (see image) - it works really well! It's an infinite size canvas that you can zoom in / out of. You can toggle on / off the UI columns in Joplin to give the whiteboard more screen real-estate too. ✌😄

UPDATE: People have questions about Joplin's freeness. It's free. You can set a local sync folder, import / export the complete data to transfer to Joplin on a different computer (although it will need to target a sync folder for synchronization), you can use a private Joplin Server on your network (free for non-commercial use), or you can use a private WebDAV server. It's also free to sync to a commercial cloud storage service like OneDrive, but you might have to pay a subscription fee for the cloud storage service itself, not Joplin.
